About Charles

charlesimagePERSONAL NOTE:

Okay, so I know it says “About Us”, but I figured I would stop using the “royal we” here. I mean, who am I kidding? This is really “About Me” I’m Charles Markham and I am the principal of Markham & Company LLC and I have been in the tax business for more than 30 years at this point. I love both preparing taxes as well as fixing tax problems. I guess that means I like to keep people out of trouble and if they do get in trouble, I am your “Tax Guy” to get you out of trouble.

On the page below, are some of my professional credentials and I also have a ton of client testimonials, too, but let me just put it this way:

I am a total tax nerd, and I like it that way.

If you are looking for a tax professional, I may be your new tax accountant. But let me explain it like this. I don’t take on just anyone. I look for people who want an ongoing professional relationship in their life. I am loyal to my clients and my clients are loyal to me. If you just need help with this one issue or have this one form you are trying to figure out, please call someone else. I want to get to know you, your family, and your financial concerns. I want to be sitting in a tax seminar some day and when I learn a new tax strategy, have your name come to mind because it could apply to you, and not be able to wait to get back to my office to email you about it. That’s just the way I am. And I want to keep you out of any tax problems and I want to give you the sense that I have your back. I want you have to peace of mind when it comes to your taxes. Life has enough craziness to it.

Now, if you’ve come to me because you’ve got a really messy tax problem, don’t worry. I like those, too. Really, really messy ones. With lots of history and crazy things that have happened, or maybe you’ve just been completely oblivious to the whole matter and in complete denial. I can work with that. So big messes don’t scare me, and you don’t have anything to be ashamed of. I am your confessor. I have heard it all, and am only here to make things as good as I can. If you are a regular tax preparation client what’s good to know that is that such a substantial portion of my practice is dedicated to tax problem solving. It means that if a problem ever happens, I know how to take care of it.

Read the FAQs and reach out to me and see if I can be of any assistance to you. Let’s get to work.

Do you still want to cyber-stalk Charles a bit?

Every so often people call me, and I mean, wow!, they’ve been checking me out!  Whew!  Lucky for me there’s no skeletons in my internet closet.  Anyway, I am going to make it easy for you.  You’re wasting your time on Facebook and Twitter.  Yeah, I have accounts, but I’m too old for that stuff, not much there, nothing really interesting.  I have previously participated very actively on a website called “Elance” (which sadly was shut down), my ‘handle’ on that site is ‘TaxStrategies’.    There is also a website called JustAnswer and I also answer questions on that site and my name is “TaxWhisperer”, I think you can locate my conversations as all chats there are a matter of public record.   On the local Eastern Massachusetts Better Business Bureau, I am rated A+, but I can’t use the logo or anything, because I would have to pay an annual fee to do that. I am also on Angie’s List.  There are others, but those come immediately to mind.  If you want me to add to this list, I will.  Happy stalking.  Oh, and here’s my LinkedIn profile.
